We have the pleasure to announce a Colloquium entitled “Co-morbidity of Affective, Metabolic and Cardiovascular Disease: a crucial role of the Mineralocorticoid Receptor” jointly organized ADMIRE COST and the Royal Netherlands Academy.

Organising Committee: Onno Meijer, Ron de Kloet and Frederic Jaisser.

The colloquium will be held in Amsterdam on 5th & 6th October 2016.

The venue of the meeting is the seat of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, the 17th century “Trippenhuis”, Kloveniersburgwal 29 in the centre of Amsterdam.

Participation is limited to a maximum of 50 senior investigators including speakers, moderators and discussants. Experts in the field of MR pathophysiology will make pitch presentations with ample time for discussion.

The Colloquium budget allows reimbursement for the attendance of 10 senior ADMIRE COST members to cover the cost of hotel accommodation for 3 nights at a flat rate of €120 plus travel of up to €160. All participants are requested to contribute a fee of €100. This fee covers coffee, tea and lunch during the breaks as well as the Conference dinner, 6th October 2016. Instructions for paying the fee will be provided on the registration form.

Masterclass for Early Career Investigators in the ADMIRE COST network.

ADMIRE COST and The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences will host a masterclass on Co-morbidity of Affective, Metabolic and Cardiovascular Disease: a crucial role of the Mineralcorticoid Receptor.

Organising Committee: Onno Meijer, Marian Joëls, Ron de Kloet amd Fréderic Jaisser.           Venue:  Trippenhuis, Kloveniersgracht, Amsterdam.

Participation in the masterclass is open for excellent young Postdocs , ECIs and PhD students in the late phase of their research, working on the mineralocorticoid receptor.

Six senior scientists from the ADMIRE consortium will give feedback on work and presentations.  ADMIRE and the Academy will offer bursaries to ten Early Career Investigators to cover travel expenses and two nights accommodation in Amsterdam.

Registration fee is waived. Coffee, tea and a lunch will be provided.

We invite Early Career Investigators in the ADMIRE COST network to  apply for bursaries to the Organising Committee which will select the participants, noting that only ONE student from their respective laboratory is eligible to attend.

The deadline for applications for bursaries is Wednesday 23rd  June 2016.

1st ADMIRE Meeting

Thank you to everyone who made the 1st ADMIRE Meeting such a success. We had over 100 delegates in attendance who networked and shared their research into aldosterone and mineralocorticoid receptor over 2 days in the beautiful town of Padua. Getting To Padua

From Venice Marco Polo Airport (50 km from Padova)

By Bus

You can reach Padua city centre by FSBusitalia bus. The timetable can be found at the below link. (Download the timetable Collegamento con l’aeroporto Marco Polohttp://www.fsbusitalia.it/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=da1849510fff1310VgnVCM1000005817f90aRCRD

Buses leave from outside the airport every hour and the journey takes approximately 1 hour and 20 min, depending on traffic.

By Train

Take the Flybus shuttle from Marco Polo to Venezia Mestre. The timetable is here Shuttle-Marco Polo-Venice Mestre.

Take the train from Mestre to Padova. Trains leave for Padova approximately every 20-30 minutes at a cost of approximately €15-20 return. Journey time is between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on the type of train (express or not). Check the web site www.trenitalia.com for exact schedule and costs.

From Treviso Airport (60 km from Padova)

The easiest way is to take the SITA-BusItalia shuttle bus (Timetable Treviso-Padua) which will take approximately 1h 10m. These depart every hour until 20:30.

Alternatively, you can take the ATVO bus from Treviso Airport into Venice Mestre (40 mins journey) and take a train from there. www.trenitalia.com

From Verona Airport (80km from Padova)

Take the shuttle bus to Verona railway station (they leave every 20 mins, details are here http://www.aeroportoverona.it/en/aerobus_t2) and then take a train to Padua. For timetables please see the www.trenitalia.com website.

Reimbursement Details

The ADMIRE COST network will be covering the costs for researchers to attend the annual meeting in Padua as below.

Principal Investigators

1 night accomodation based on receipts up to a maximum of €120/night

Dinner on Thursday night to be reimbursed at €20 flat rate

PhD students and Postdoctoral Researchers (within 8 years post PhD)

2 nights accomodation based on receipts up to a maximum of €120/night

Dinner on Thursday night to be reimbursed at €20 flat rate

Travel costs-up to a maximum of €300
